Klaxons planning 'melodic' album.
James Ford also performs as one half Simian Mobile Disco. The Klaxons' producer asserts the band will be sticking to the "melodic" sound which took them the Mercury Prize but are taking it in a different direction. The band beat off competition from the likes of Amy Winehouse and Dizzee Lad to win the award in 2007 for their first album, Fables Of the future. At the event, vocalist Jamie Reynolds informed the BBC that they merited to beat Winehouse because she seemed to make a "retro record and we've made the most forward-thinking record". It is not in my power to chat them out of dressing up, they are pretty into it.

James Ford, who records and performs live as Simian Mobile Disco, is ready to work with Klaxons on the new record. He told Newsbeat : "I think they are still attempting to push forward so I don't believe it should sound too very like the last record." The Mercury judging panel described the album as an "ecstatic musical adventure". Ford recounted : "They're attempting to keep it melodic and vocal because that is one of their great robust points.
